According to a report by IPRdaily titled “Security Technology Patent Analysis Report”, China stood out as the country with the largest distribution of security technology patents in the world. At the end of April, China held 54.4% of the global total of technology security patents, with 20,445 patents. The United States, in turn, has processed 9,155 patents, also becoming one of the main innovators in the field of these patents.
The report also noted that China’s number of security technology invention patents is 2.23 times that of the US, evidencing Chinese technological advancement in the field. Furthermore, Chinese companies dominated the list of top 10 global patent applicants, with seven of them occupying these positions.
Security technology, also known as information security technology, was defined in the report as a method that encompasses the protection of information systems, networks and computers, as well as data and related information, encompassing several dimensions of systems engineering.
This advance in the security technology patent landscape reflects the increasingly significant role of technology companies in the digital economy. China is at the forefront of this development, with companies like Ant Group leading the ranking with 3,806 patent families. Other Chinese giants such as Huawei and Tencent also stand out among the main patent applicants in the field of technological security.
This achievement by China underscores its growing role as an innovation hub, driving the country’s development in the technology sector and bolstering its position on the international patent scene.
